Here we go!!   Just for you – my favorite prospective readers that just need that teeny tiny enticement.    http://ow.ly/8NsC3

You want it, you got it.     I’m running Shades of Gray for free today only!!! ( Feb. 1,  12a  – 11.59p   EST)  After that, back to the normal $5.99 !

And don’t forgot to show a brother a little love by posting a review after you read!  (2 or 3 sentences is just fine, no epic sagas needed  *smile* )    http://ow.ly/8NsC3

Post on Amazon, BN.com, or GoodReads  (hey, or post on all three.)    http://ow.ly/8NsC3

Also, I love to add that eBooks can be read on many devices BESIDES the kindle –  Ipad, Iphone, Laptop, Android, PC, and stone tablet.   (ok, so there’s no applicaton yet for reading on stone tablets, I made that one up.)

Most folks who use Twitter to make connections, build their platform, enhance their brand, and otherwise hold out their grubby hands and beg for cash (incl. me) are familiar with Triberr.  But some of you newbies may not have had the pleasure of joining a “tribe”.  (disclaimer – I know very little about Triberr, but I do know enough to be dangerous.)

I LOVE READERS !!!

Posted: January 24, 2012 in Uncategorized

Truly love it when someone goes out of their way to celebrate my book.  Thank you readers.  I’d be lost without you!!!

The whole “what do I charge for my book” thing is a debate that will rage on forever. (just as it did ever since the first book was printed)  Ultimately, the market will end up deciding what consumers  will pay for eBooks, not us writers.  Today you can get my novel for free, thanks to the KDP Select program, which allows me to offer my work at no cost to readers for a few days each three months.  At the same time, superstar writers like Larson, King, Cussler, etc. are selling their eBook titles for prices that are the same as the softcover version.  What gives?

So I made my foray into this new program for authors (and READERS)  whereby we can give away copies of our eBook(s)  for free.  Yes FREE!  Amazing concept created by the folks at  Amazon.  The superpowers that be at Amazon decided to offer authors the ability to do a few days of FREE in exchange for exclusivity (can’t sell on other sites in eBook form).  The whole “exclusivity” thang has kicked up a little dust storm of controversy amongst us writing folks.  Suffice to say, I’m such a “babe in the woods” when it comes to all this publishing stuff, I had no idea whether KDP Select (name of the program) was for me or not.

So, amazing but true, I’m a newbie author.  What a strange, *short* trip its been.  (thanks jerry g.)  If I only knew then what I know now.  (WOW!  This blog post is already promising to include more cliches than anyone can stomach.)  See, this time last year, I received a call from a writer friend I met WAY back in 2005.  She brought my dead notions of being a writer back to life with that call to tell me that she’d get my book published through a small press she was screening MS’s (manuscripts) for here in the Raleigh/Durham area.  So I got busy – edit, re-write, edit, etc. I was so thrilled! Someone wanted my little old book.  I got on the social media train full force.  (I even surpassed my teenage daughter’s “friend count” on FB, no small feat.)

I promise this is the ONLY year-end, top blah, blah, list for blah, blah that I’m going to do, period.   I find end-of-year “reflections” to be a waste of time, but maybe I’m just a little nostalgic (just a little).   However, I have made several loud announcements to my television that if I see one more “year end”, “look back”, “top _____ for 2011” on the news that I’m going to take the screen out with my sawed off shotgun.  (damn, that sounds dramatic, huh.)  So, enuff said.  I bow to the late december trend and post my list of books I’ve enjoyed this year.  Hope you’ll check them out.  (and don’t worry, I’m not going to show up at your home with my sawed off shotgun if you DON’T read these,  and hey – I KNOW you were thinking that might happen!  *smile* )))))))))

These are in alphabetical order.  If I am gonna succumb to the end-of-year lookback, then at least I’m NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT gonna “rank”

Did I happen to mention that “ranking” things is “rank”?         Sorry,  a bad pun that I couldn’t resist.

A recent survey has brought a chuckle to men everywhere.  AARP reported that their polling of men 55 years old and up resulted in findings that 77.4% of them would rather play 18 holes of golf than have sex.  According to the survey, the remaining poll participants typically ran errands or did household chores instead of joining their friends on the golf course.

For all of us first time, newly published writers, the world of book promotion and marketing is only  slightly  less  daunting than the world of  “book publishing”.   So when I became connected with Melissa Foster and the folks at the WoMen’s Lit Cafe, I was hopeful that my new book would get a little attention.  But boy, oh boy was I wrong.  Thanks to the WLC, my book got ALOT of ATTENTION !!  (and sales)
