This is a terrific blog posting from writer Alisha Paige.  I find it interesting to read comments from writers who are experienced in being traditionally published AND have published themselves.  Thanks Alisha for your comments and thoughts.   I know they will be valuable to others as well.

Today I’m debunking myths within the indie world. In other words, I’ve heard some crazy rumors flying around some writing blogs and I want to get the truth out for a couple of reasons. 1) I hate how negative rumors can ruin a very good thing. 2) If I were a new writer considering indie publishing my book, I know for a fact that if I read some of the false blogs about inflated costs, I’d probably never take the risk to indie pub my books and that makes me sad. 😦

Jeff Bennington writes insightful posts on his experiences as a writer and as a provider of services to self-published authors.  He’s very active on Twitter and on other social media sites.    Here is his blog site –

As an indie author I have to confess that I am guilty of believing a lie — not just one, but many. They are the same lies I see self-published authors fall for all the time. I see the lies in tweets, in emails, in DM’s and blog posts. The lies run rampant. The lies are deadly. The lies set writers up for failure and they are like a disease that has the potential to thin out the indie author population within a couple of years.

To say that “Breaking Bad” is a good TV show, is to say that Mark Twain was a good writer.  Simply stated, Breaking Bad is one of the very best TV shows of the last 10 years.

Also,  because I’m such a “swell” guy, I’m also throwing in a free interview for you to listen to that was recorded yesterday (4/10/2012) on our local NPR affiliate, WUNC – FM.   I visited with the mega-cool Frank Stasio on his show – “The State of Things”  which highlights the arts, news, and all things North Carolina.      Here you go.  (excuse my rough voice, have a little cold)

Hope you enjoy the book and don’t forget to show a brother a little luv by posting a review on Amazon and/or GoodReads.  Just a sentence  or two is enough lovin’ for me.  Remember, I’m cheap. (smile)      (click here)

I was fortunate enough to be picked for an interview with a statewide Public Radio Show to chat about  my novel.   It is a show that my entire family knows as my wife and I are ardent WUNC-FM fans and thus force our kids to listen to Public Radio rather than the latest music from LMFAO, Justin Beiber, Kesha, et. al, which the kids seem to prefer, for some strange reason.

At the dinner table this weekend, I proudly informed all of them that I was going to on the radio and these are the comments that I got – —
